The speaker and the author of the reading article both debate on whether smart cars are beneficial or not. The author states that smart cars promise to make driving safer, quicker and less expensive and gives three supporting reason for that. However, the speaker casts doubt by claiming that it is not clear that smart cars practiclly beneficial than conventional cars. The speaker gives three contrdicting reaons for that.
First of all, the author of the reading posits that smart cars will prevent many accidents, thereby saving lives. On the other hand, the speaker challenges this point of the author. The speaker states that smart cars still get accidents. In addition, she adds that a small technical device of smart car can fail occasionally that cause more accidents. Besides, this smart cars allows many cars that packed public transportation road. It mens more cars results in more accidents.
Next, the author avers that with the wide use of smart cars, traffic problems will practically disapper. The author adds that increased speed of smarts cars will be a great benifit, welcomed by the many people who communate by car. Withal, the speaker contradicts this point of the author. The speaker mentions that the high speed of smart cars causes many people to drive smart cars. As a result, it will not allow drivers to take advantage of getting more time to communicate.
Finally, the author explains that smarts cars will bring a reduction in the cost of driving. In contrast, the speaker says that this high technology of smart car is too expensive than mechanical car. She adds that smart cars need senser device that very expensive. Besides, the cost of repairing of smart cars are more than mechanical cars. This new smart cars are off from a reduction of costs of driving because it require more cost for repair and maintainance than cost of it's saving. These are the contradicting points that made by the speaker.
