The bar chart highlights the proportion of high school students, classified by gender, that have passed competency exams in 2010-2011.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that girls have been more successful, in every competency except one, than boys. Additionally, we observe that girls have been the most successful in the computer science exam as 56.3% of them passed it. In contrast, the subject where the most important proportion of boys have succeeded is mathematics, they were 48.4% to pass the exams.
Focusing on subjects where the difference between boys and girls is very narrow, we can see that in physics and history girls have been more successful than boys by roughly 2 percentage points. Furthermore, the smallest difference between genders has been observed for foreign languages and mathematics subjects.
If we look at the other competencies, we can observe a significant difference between genders for chemistry. Indeed, they were twice as many girls that have passed as boys. Finally, geography is the only subject where boys have been more successful than girls and by far as the difference is more than 10 percentage points.
