The table reveals the expenditure of three categories of consumer products across five nations in the year of 2002.
To begin with, it is clear from the information provided that spending on products entailing food, drink and tobacco was incredibly enormous in Ireland and Turkey, whereby such expenditure accounted for some one-third of their overall living costs. By contrast, other nations saw an approximately halved figure in this cost relating to diet.
Evidently, Italian investment on clothing and footwear reached 9%, while such spendings in each other nation were practically identical at 6%. Meanwhile, regarding the public service sector, activities encompassing leisure and education costed a relatively insignificant ratio. Obviously, a meagre 4% of average spending in Turkey was responsible for the cost paying the fee for amenities and cultivation, which was doubled that of its counterparts in Ireland and Spain.
Overall, dietary expenses comprised a considerable proportion in cost of living for all five countries, surpassing the spending on public service and clothing.
