You are experiencing financial problems and want to ask your landlord if you can pay your rent late. Write a letter to your landlord.
In your letter explain:
Why you are writing to him
Why you cannot pay the rent
When you will pay the rent.
Dear Mr. Jones,
I am writing to you with a request to allow me to pay my rent late this month.
I have been a tenant with you since a number of years and have always been regular in payment of my rent. Unfortunately, I am going through a financial crisis at the moment. I have been made redundant by my company as it is on the verge of shutting down. Since I have not been working with the organization for long, I did not receive any redundant payment, and therefore find myself short of money this month.
Fortunately, I have managed to secure another job and have already started from this week. They have kindly agreed to lend me an advance against my wages. However, they will not be able to do so until next week. Therefore, I request you to give me time till 15th of this month to pay you the rent.
I hope this will be acceptable to you, but do contact me if this is a problem.
Yours Sincerely,
Aparna Rachapudi
