The line graph provides information on the per capita average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in four European countries namely United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal within a period of 40 years.
During the first two decades, a steep increase in the emissions was observed in Italy and Portugal except for the other two countries. Within the next two decades, Italy and Portugal steadily decreased the emissions from 6 and 3 tons to 8 and 5 tons respectively which then leveled off within the next decade.
On the other hand, UK being the highest emitter in the year 1967 and accounted for 11 tons of CO2 had a gradual decline in the emission by 2007 which ultimately reached to 9 tons. Interestingly, Sweden at the beginning of the period emitted 9 tons and had a dramatic increase to 11 tons within the first decade had a sharp decrease to 5 tons within the next three decades.
In conclusion, the per capita emission of CO2 in all four countries at the end of 2007 was within the range of 5-9 tons.
