TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rembrandt.
The reading passage gives a short note doubts on the originality of Rembrandt's work, the most famous Dutch painter if the seventeenth century. It gives information that people feel doubt whether some of his acclaimed work are really done by him or not.
The lecture refutes all of the three doubts cast on a certain painting by the artist by providing research based result of the painting. The passage talks about a painting of a woman which is attributed to his very portrait style but some mismatches are discussed. First of all, the inconsistency of the costume of the woman is confusing. It wears a lilen cap of a type that only servants would wear at that time but it is inconsistent with the fur collar that affluent people could only afford. The lecture refuted this claim as X-ray analysis found that a topping was made later on the original photo by the artist. To increase the painting value it was given a formal look by wearing that fur collar after the color of the original one was fade. The second mismatch discussed in the passage about the lack of sync in light and shadow. The lecture also proved this problem by explaining that the fur collar was further painted. Prior that in the original painting the woman was drawn wearing a light colored dress for which the face was illuminated. So this again proved it to be the original work. The third mismatch is that Rembrandt used to used single wood panel but the painting was on several wood panels glued together. The lecture described the final point that the researcher has proved it that when the painting was edited by another one they glued more than one wooden panel to make it more grand. The original artist used the single panel like his other works. And the most exciting proof is that the actual wooden panel was from the tree from which Rembrandt used another wood panel to draw his self portrait.
So reaching all of the points it is clear that the lecture explanably cast doubt on specific points of the passage doubting the patent of the work by Rembrandt.
