The chart below shows the percentage of male and female teachers in six different types of educational settings in the UK in 2010.

The bar graph illustrates the gender distribution of teachers in 6 different educational organizations, namely nursery/pre-school, primary school, secondary school, college, private training institute and university in Britain in 2010. Overall, the proportion of male teachers increased gradually whereas that of their female counterparts declined significantly.
The number of male teachers in the first two educational institutions which are nursery/pre-school and primary school made up about 3% and 5% respectively. The figure rose sharply to merely 45% in secondary school and 50% in college which was as much as that for female teachers. In the private-training institute, the number of male educators was just approximately 2% higher than the former. The greatest percentage of male teachers accounted for nearly 70% in university.
On the contrary, the largest proportion of female teachers accounted for nearly 98% in nursery/pre-school and then was followed by 96% in primary school. The number of female teachers in the next three educational settings which are a secondary school, college and private-training institution declined slightly at around 50%, 45%, and 43% respectively. The percentage of women in university experienced the lowest peak, approximately 30%, while that for men was at the highest one.
