population of Yellow cedar
In this set of material the reading passage is about three main factors that are responsible for declining the populations of the Yellow cedar trees, and the lecture is about professor's opinion that cast doubt on reading passage according to following essay.
First, the reading passage mentiones some insects like the cedar bark beetle damage the tree by eating its wood. As a result, they are one major cause as parasites for yellow cedar tree's reducing. However, the professor believes that these trees are more resistant because of their poisonous material which kill insects. So, this is not a reasonable point for declining of Yellow cedar trees.
Second, the reading mentioned that brown beers damage and consume tree bark in order to eat high sugar content that are resemble with wild berries test. The professor claimes that overall population decline of yellow tree is happened in places that in them there are no bear, then it can not be possible factor for tree's decline.
Last but not least, the passage asserts that the pattern of seasonal affected the root system of trees by changing their growing time from early spring to late winter which causes frost damage of them. In other hand, the professor talks about many trees who are dying on other seasons. He believes if frost damage had been responsible for trees decline, we might have only observed tree's reduction in winter.
