1. Nations should pass laws to preserve any remaining wilderness areas in their natural state, even if these areas could be developed for economic gain.
Write a response in which you discuss your views on the policy and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the possible consequences of implementing the policy and explain how these consequences shape your position.
The author of issue claims that there should be a law to prevent the use of wilderness area even for the financial gain. This is the assertion with which I generally do concur. Among the countless reasons which give adherence to my viewpoint, I will list the most conspicuous ones in the following paragraphs to rear my standpoint.
A first striking fact which should be considered is the cogent interconnection of the ecosystem at the wilderness. Indeed, wilderness hospitals numerous types of ecosystems which possess network to each other. In this case, by the abolishing a tiny part of this connection, the entire links will get down. This fact is convincingly supported by the butterfly effect. This effect firstly was discussed by the meteorologist Edward Lorenz in 1961; he proposed that the solo movement of the butterfly’s wing in a specific side of the world could cause a big storm at the other side of the world. According to this principle, the ruining of wilderness in a place will have negative side-effects at other spaces. In other word, the conscious of this destroy has a global scope side effect which is threatening for global.
Another equally crux point which should be considered is the possibility of the gaining economic benefit through the wild and natural attraction. In fact, in the current journey attraction list, the intact wilderness owns the fame among the tourists. Therefore, by the preservation of these spaces, there will be the increment of the tourists who wish to spend their time and money on visiting that place. As a result, the native people will benefit from this income. Actually, according to the noteworthy intelligence research released by the Economy Department in the Middle East Technical University, fifty-four percent of the raw income of Turkey is through the tourists who visit Turkey. So, the protection of the land can be considered as the protection of a latent source of income.
Maybe there should be the assumption that the financial benefits which gain through the allocating the wilderness for economic activities could be more than its protection. In this case, the higher benefits could make my perspective to look shaky. However, the crucial and subtle point was ignored by this assumption and it is the length of retrieving. In fact, it is the obvious fact, the duration of nature retrieving is so slower than the speed of modern life requirements. In this case, after a while, nature could be a sufficient and responsible source for these requirements. A lucid example for this assertion is the current situation of Iran which imports tree form the other countries; on the other hand, during the last decades, it had sufficient lands of the tree. The chasm consumption and cutting down of the trees by the governor make this place becomes insufficient of trees and seeks this source from the other countries. Therefore, instead of obtaining the fast and transient benefits through the wilderness, it is a wise idea to preserve it to have and a constant source of income from its tourists.
To wrap it up, according to the all aforementioned data, although the high and fast income through the demolishing the wilderness could seem appealing; the protection of the wilderness will be protective of the ecosystem in the global scope and provide the continued source of income for the citizens,
