The chart illustrates amount percentage of the US citizen who were at age 65 and over, between 190o to 2000. The information is presented by separating percentage in each period into three difference groups: 65-74, 75-84, and 85 years and over.
According to the chart, the percentage of people who aged 65-74 started with 2.9 percent in 1900 before climbed up to almost double (5.6 percent) in the half of twentieth century . This number continued rising up with time thereafter until peaking at 7.3 percent in 1990. At last, the trend declined narrowly to 6.5 percent in 2000.
