News stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures. Some people say that these pictures are more often effective than words. What is your opinion about this?
According to some people, pictures describe any event more sophisticatedly than the words do. so either it’s a print media or news channel, they also broadcast most of the news with a pictorial presentation. I also think that pictures bring about more understanding of the news that has been shown.
To start with, videos and images are the best way to make the audience attract to the news. they make people read the story which from a headline, seems uninterested to them. For example, whenever I read a newspaper I always first unintentionally go through the news shown with the picture as I do not have to read the whole content. Moreover, images help people understanding the news properly as sometimes the written text in newspaper or headline in the TV is too much small to read by a person having weak eyesight, so they can interpret whatever they are watching with the help of that picture.
however, on the flip side, sometimes showing image can have a negative impact on the individuals especially children. To elaborate, images from a crime scene or any violent content in the video can leave people in stress and depression. also, children can copy any negativity from that and can apply to their peers as a part of playing. For instance, once a criminal was strangled to death, the media was allowed to show images of the scene. After a few days, I got to hear from my neighborhood that their child attempted to do the same with his younger brother. so sometimes such images can lead to some fatal consequences.
In conclusion, images are the most convenient way for readers or viewers to perceive the news. however, children’s concentration should be deteriorated, when any violent content is being shown.
