The Chart shows the fertility rates in China and USA from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, fertility in these two countries were fluctuated throughout the period and we also can see that birth rates of China and USA shared similar trend over the period.
In early 1920s, China birth rate was around 10 percent and USAs just slightly higher than that, but in late 1930s, Chinas rate passed USA for the first time in that period. As the rates went up and down together despite different number changes in percentage, we can say that both rates had identically fluctuated trend. They hit the highest peak of the period in early 1950s with 20 percent for China while 15 percent for USA.
After that year, both countries birth rates fell dramatically throughout the rest of the period and hit the lowest peak with less than 5 percent for China and around 7 to 8 percent for USA in mid 1980s and just increased slightly in late 1980s, but in the late of 1990s to 2000s both countries fertility went down again.
