You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to, because you have some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer. In you letter:
Explain your situation
Describe your problems
Tell him/her when you think you can start.
Dear Sir,
I got recruited as finance manager in your organisation having joining date effective 1st august 2019. Firstly, I would like to thank you for extending opportunity to me to work with your esteemed and renowned group. Secondly, I am writing this letter to explain my current obligation, which required me to postpone my joining day by 2 week. I can begin my duties with your group by 15th august.
Being Assistant finance manager, my existing role is full of responsibilities and demand knowledge of historical background of underlying transactions. Further, I have put colossal efforts in audit assignment and managed to finish the audit for last 6 years all together. We are on the verge to accomplish the audit shortly. Due to some unavoidable circumstances on auditor’s part, eventually, audit was delayed by three-week.
considering my separation from company and with the active involvement by management, my line manager managed to cut-short the timelines by 1 weeks on auditor’s part. As a last resort, my company has requested me to extend my service by 2 week to have healthy and mutually beneficial separation, which seems reasonable to me. Lastly, considering unavoidable circumstances, I request you to please revise my joining date to 15th August 2019.
Hope you will consider it positively and extend your wisdom in this matter.
Yours sincerely
Gurmeet Singh
