The diagrams below are existing and proposed floor plans for the redevelopment of an art gallery.
The first diagram shows an art gallery’s floor layout as it is now, and the second diagram illustrates its proposed redevelopment plan for the future.
It is clear that the main changes were made to the location of the entrance and the usage of space.
According to the proposed plan, the entrance of the gallery will be moved to the Parkinson Court side of the gallery; therefore, visitors can enter straight into the exhibition area without having to walk through the lobby. The lobby and the office will no longer be present as these areas will be transformed into areas used for education and storing purposes.
In terms of the exhibition space, the permanent exhibition will merge with the two existing temporary exhibition areas, thus making it triple in size. There is also a plan to expand the gallery towards the west by erecting a special exhibition and its designated store on the piece of land, which is not a part of the existing gallery at present.
