The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts illustrate data on how many people there were in three different age groups of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and also show the predictions for the year 2050.
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the 15-to 59-year-olds occupied the highest percentage in both countries. Besides, the number of 0- to 14-year-olds and over-60-year-olds in Yemen saw an opposite trend with that in Italy.
In 2000, Yemen and Italy's populations witnessed different proportions to each other. Firstly, people aged 0 to 14 years old in Yemen made up the largest percentage at 50.1%, closely followed by the ones aged 15 to 59 years old at 46.3% and by far larger than the over-60-year-olds. In contrast, Italy saw an opposite trend as the number of people aged 15 to 59 accounted for 61.6% and the number of people in the rest age groups were considerably less than that, ending at 24.1% for the eldest ones and 14.3% for the youngest.
In 50 years' time, the Yemen population is not expected to witness many significant changes. The only projected change that is considered remarkable is the replacement of the 0-14 age group with the 15-59 one as it might rise to 57.3%. Similarly, Italy's population is also expected to remain pretty stable; however, the number of Italians aged 15 to 59 years old might decrease to 46.2% while the number of over-sixty-year-old is bound to grow substantially to 42.3%.
