The pie charts show a comparison of the proportion of energy generation by fuel type in Florida in two different time periods, in 2007 and 2017.
Overall, it is clear that whereas the major source used for energy production in both years was natural gas, only a small proportion of energy was produced in 2007 and 2017 from renewable. The figures for energy generation by coal, other and oil decreased throughout the period.
As we can see that energy produced by natural gas accounted for the largest proportion, at 38.8% in 2007 and went up sharply to more than half in 2017. Likewise, there was also an increase in the percentage of energy produced from nuclear, from 11.9% in the first year to 15.9% in the second year. By contrast, others fuel types also decreased over a period. In 2007, the percentage of energy generated from coal made up nearly one third and this figure fall to 23.7% in 2017. The proportion of other witnessed a considerable decrease by 7.7% from 2007 to 2017. The energy produced by oil represented a small proportion in both years, at 6.7% and 1.1%, respectively.
