4 day work week
The reading states that the converting of 10-hours-a-day, 4 day work week offers numerous benefits to both businesses and employees and provides three reasons of support. In contrast, the professor explains that it is true that there are some benefits but this is not justify and its week and inconvenience and he opposes each of author's reasons.
First, the article claims that the converting to a 4-day workweek will alleviate some expenses for employee. However, the professor agrees that its true but it is not enough to justify. He explains that the employee spend 30 miles to got their work which cost approximately $15-20 a day and that mean $850 a year. This is not enough for the conversion.
Second, the author avers that the converting will lower the operating costs of most businesses. The lecture refutes this point that it is misguided. According to the professor the businesses will lose 20% of their business. He states that the two hours late ,the consumers will go to their home so it does not justify to loss a part of their businesses.
Third, the article posits that a 4-day workweek will improve the ability of employee to spend time with their families. Conversely, the professor contends that 10 hours a day with young children is hard to find a day care facility open in the evening. Also, the employee with old children in school they will spend half of the day in the school when the employee have extra day off. Consequently, they will not stay much time with their children
