The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summaries the information be selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two given maps illustrate the changes in Islip central town before and after improvement.
According to the plans, the town centre will be dramatically developed. It is clear to see that many facilities have been constructed while some building remains unchanged.
In reality, there is a main road sprawling from west to east, with also 2 more forks at each end of the town, one of them leads to the school and another one turns to the park. Both sides of the road include two ranges of shops, followed by the countryside in the north and housing areas in the south.
In the second map, a dual carriageway has been built to cover almost the central town, except the school and a residents area. The shops on the north have been demolished instead of car parking, bus stop, shopping centre and new housing, while the other shops have been preserved. The old road will be spent for pedestrians, and the park will be zoomed out for accommodation.
