Reading: Air purifiers are being used to protect our health from air pollution. Many different types of air purifiers have been invented for better effects. Here are some of the most widely used air purifiers.
HEPA filters are effective at removing allergens such as dust or pollens without producing secondary pollution. The folded fiber sheets of the HEPA filters trap toxic substances when the absorbed particles come into contact with the fiber. Once any large enough particle is absorbed, the filter will produce cleaner air in an eco-friendly way.
Ozone-generating air purifiers remove unpleasant smells and airborne chemicals. This can be done with the help of ozone, which creates a special reaction when it comes in contact with hazardous substances. Also, ozone has a pleasant smell like air fresheners. These two features of ozone-generating filters appeal to many customers.
UV air purifiers directly react with the air and remove harmful bacteria in it. It is especially useful when removing harmful microscopic particles in the
The Reading and the Lecture are both about different type of Air purifiers. The author of the reading feels that there are three type of effective Air purifiers. The Lecturer challanges the claim made by the author. He is of the opinion that this Air purifiers is ineffective.
To begin with, the author of the reading argues that HEPA filters Air purifier are very effective against allergens. The article mentions that HEPA filter includes fiber sheets which can remove toxic substances when dust or pollens comes to its contact. This specific argument is challenged by the Lecturer. He claims that HEPA filters can work only against large dust particle but not unable to trap small particle. Additionally,he says, microscopic particles like airborne, virous are more obnoxious than large particles which can penetrate through this filter.
Secondly, the author suggests that another useful Air purifier is Ozone-generating air purifier which can trap odor and airborne chemicals. In the article, it is said that Ozone also has some sweet smell. The lecturer however disputs this by acknowleding that Ozone is very dangerous to our health which can easily react with our skin. He elaborates on this by bringing up the point that Ozone has some long term obnoxious properties like gasoline and chemically toxic materials.
Finally, the author posits that usefulness of UV Air purifieris, It can remove harmful bacteria from air by reacting with it. The article also mentions that it also work silently without producing any sound pollution. In contrast, the Lecturer opinion is that most Dust and hazardous substances can pass through it. He notes that cigerate smokes, harmful gases can penitrate through UV air purifier which supress it advantages.
