The graph illustrates the developments of 4 diseases, namely aids, malaria, smallpox and tuberculosis during childhood in developing countries from 1950 to 2000.
Overall, it’s worth to note that the smallpox existed between 1950 and 1970, after 1970 this type of disease disappeared. however, from 1970 the countries began to suffer from new illness called aids.
The first noticeable thing is that the annual cases of tuberculosis and smallpox declined significantly for the first 3 decades. tuberculosis saw a decrease from 8000 cases to 5000 and the figure for smallpox declined from around 4000 to 2000. But the number of cases for malaria experienced fluctuation around 2000 cases between 1950 and 1970.
For the following three decades the pattern for malaria stayed unchanged. Moreover, there was a remarkable increase in cases of aids, rising from 1000 in 1980 to roughly 5000 in 2000. it was recorded 1000 aids cases in 1980 before experiencing fivefold increase at the end of the given period . The trend for tuberculosis constituted just over 2000 in 1980. Further, it rose steadily, reaching around 4000 cases by 2000. (By Shera)
