Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts depict the percentages of household energy usages and the amount of greenhouse gas discharge of various household appliances in a typical Australian family.
Overall, heating accounts for the highest energy consumption, whereas it is water heating that takes up the largest part of total CO2 emission in an Australian household.
According to the given data, the most energy-consuming appliance is heating system which comprises 42% of energy use, followed by water heating which makes up almost one-third of average energy consumption. In contrast, the figure for cooling, refrigeration and lighting appliance occupy trivial proportions, at 2%, 7% and 4% respectively. The remaining 15% of energy is used for other appliances.
In terms of the amount of greenhouse gas discharged, water heating and other appliances are the two major culprits, at about 32% and 28% of total emission. In comparison, the figure for heating and refrigeration are roughly a half lower, standing at merely 15% and 14% respectively. Cooling and heating are held responsible for the production of one-tenth of total gas emissions.
