Overall, more male students chose to learn sciences, mathematics, literature and law than female students, whereas social sciences, languages and the arts were chosen by more female students than their male counterparts. However, there was no difference between males and females from choosing humanities to learn in the university in 2005.
It can be seen from the chart that approximately 22 thousand of male students chose sciences to learn in the university as opposed to around 10 thousand choices of their female counterparts. Similarly, the number of male students choosing law was twice as much as female students, with the figures being 10 and 5 thousand respectively. Also, males chose literature to learn in comparison with less than 3 thousand choices of their female counterparts.
In contrast, while there were 25 thousand choices in social sciences subject are chosen by female students, their female counterparts dedicated only a half of that amount. It is clear that female students more likely than male students to choose the arts as a subject to learn, with the figures being approximately 10 and less than 5 thousand choices respectively. The biggest difference is seen in languages subject on which females chose nearly 17 thousand choices, compared with less than 5 thousand choices made by their men counterparts, whereas the number of choices on humanities subject made by males and females are the same at 11 thousand choices.
