More and more people are driving private cars nowadays than ever before. Congestion caused by too much traffic on the roads and streets in major cities and towns all around the world is a growing concern. This issue will be discussed in this essay along with some possible solutions that may be implemented to alleviate the problem.
In recent years, an increasing number of people have relocated from rural areas to urban areas, and traffic congestion in cities has become a major concern across the world. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this problem and propose some possible measures that can be conducted to handle the situation.
To begin with, there might be two main reasons for traffic congestion issues. Firstly, due to the development in modern technologies and the rise in living standards, many people now can afford to buy a car for themselves. As a result, the number of private vehicles running on the road has been increased significantly than ever before. Secondly, it can be explained by the fact that working hours are overlapped in many cities, that is, the majority of people start and finish work or school at certain times of the day, also known as “rush hours”, which often lead to traffic jams in the morning and evening.
However, there are several possible solutions to this situation. First of all, local governments should invest more in public transportation. In addition, the government should increase taxes on private vehicles and reduce the fare of public transport in order to promote it. Another measure is that governments should recommend some different working hours throughout the entire day for schools and companies. This will cut down the number of commuters travelling at particular times.
In conclusion, traffic congestion is a growing concern in every megacity. However, by developing the public transportation along with the properly working schedule, the problem can be minimized to a great extent.
