Overall, it is apparent that the majority of people working in Turkey and Grece are self-employed, as opposed to the remaining nations. While the figures in all countries were seen with increases, Grece and Turkey followed an inverse trend
In 1998, more than half of workers in Turkey are self-employed, which was also the highest percentage of around 55% out of the total workforce. Followed by Grece, with the figures staying at around 43%. However, 10 years later, the gap between these countries was narrowed down to a mere 3% as there was around 48% and 35% self employed workers in Turkey and Grece, respectively
The Czech Republic saw a slight increase in the proportion of their self employed workers, from approximately 11% to 14%. Moreover, people who worked by themselves in the Russian Republic and Slovakia just accounted for no more than 10% of the total labor market, except for the figure from Slovakia in 2008, which was roughly as same as that from the Czech Republic in 1998
