Go to Mars
Whether we can send humans to Mars in the future is the focus of both the professor and the writer. Three problems, including the long time of the round-trip, the zero gravity environment ,and the dangerous radiation, have been elaborated. However, the professor states that scientists have found solutions to those problems. I will explain it in detail in subsequent paragraphs.
Firstly, the professor asserts that those needed resources can be obtained by astronauts themselves. Therefore, they can live through the time when they fly to Mars. He explores the detailed reasons by introducing a technology called hydroponics at first. Hydroponics can be used to grow vegetables within a small area, which enables astronauts to have sufficient food. Moreover, grown plants can recycle wastes and produce water and oxygen which is essential for humans. As a result, astronauts can adopt this technology to live on the way to Mars.
Secondly, the professor argues that today's astronauts have been accustomed to the zero-gravity environment so it is not a problem to live under such conditions. He advances his theory by pointing out that there have been many astronauts living in the space station which also has a zero-gravity environment. Those astronauts have found ways, like exercising, to prevent their bodies from losing functions. So, it isn't impossible for astronauts to live in a zero-gravity environment without health problems.
Thirdly, the professor stresses that dangerous solar radiation only happens occasionally so that astronauts on the mission won't be exposed to the solar radiation for a long time. He supports his idea by examining the fact that solar radiation is only produced when the sun becomes active periodically. Thus, astronauts are not usually exposed to a dangerous environment if they are on a mission on Mars.
