Computers are being used more and more in education. Some people say that this is a positive trend while others argue that it leading to negative consequences. Discuss both views and give your opinion?
In the digital era, technology and virtual equipments have been created and used in variety of ways, from daily life to crucial science projects. For this reason, some maintain that it is beneficial to introduce computer as a tool supporting studies and education at school. To contrary, some point out the downsides of this strategy toward students. This essay sets out to explain both views before giving any conclusion.
Computers could bring about many advantages for both students and teachers. First of all, teaching by digital equipment allows the lesson to have more visual effects and additions, such as vibrant pictures or videos, which gives the students a good illustration and a strong memory. Moreover, teachers are able to access extra knowleges not included in original books, to teach the students.
On the other hand, negative aspects are also shown by this teaching method. Computers are expensive and not every school can afford it, especially those in developing countries. Additionally, this might results in high studying-fee; therefore, it depends on the financial situation. Another disadvantage of computers is controversial effect on health. Computer-light could make our eyes become worse over a long-term period. Moreover, those activities which giving real experience would be reduced due to computer. For example, students are usually taken to hospital of other workplaces to understand efficiently how the process is going on; nevertheless, with computers, they can stay in the classroom and watch those video on the internet.
All in all, it seems that the negatives is outweigh the positives of using computer as a method to educate students. From where I stand, traditional teaching with books and pens are more efficient and familiar to not only students but also the teachers.
