In some countries, students pay their college or university fees, while in some others, the government pays for them. Do you think the advantages that the government pays the money outweigh the disadvantages?
Providing the cost of college tuition has been increasingly more prevalent. While people argue that parents must take responsibility for covering the tuition fee of their child, I am of the opinion that the government should pay for it.
On the one hand, the governmental policy of subsidizing full-ride scholarship is disadvantageous. A reason for this is that the budget would be less for other important sectors such as health care or environmental issues. Additionally, if education is free, some students may take it for granted. They wouldn't take studying seriously due to the fact that they don't have to pay.
On the other hand, the advantages of the government covering the tertiary education are more considerable than the drawbacks. On a national level, the students would appreciate if education is free. They might study hard to develop themselves in order to contribute to their countries. Particularly, they would be able to become an intellectual workforce. On an individual level, learners would be easily to graduate if there is free education. They will encourage themselves and be able to make ends meet and money won't be a problem anymore.
To conclude, although it is argued that governments don't have to provide the tuition fee, I firmly believe that the coverage of the full-ride scholarship is governments' responsibility.
