Environmental issues such as climate change have always have been an international problem because governments are not imposing Harsh punishments against offenders. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Climate change has become an alarming issue in past few decades. Governments are often held responsible for this issue as it is believed that they do not impose strict penalties against offenders. I disagree with this notion as governments in recent year have taken considerable measures to combat global climate change.
In recent decades, despite the rising problem of climate change government has taken impressive measures to tackle this issue. For instance, in India, to overcome the problem of global warming, Government have launched initiative to control pollution level. One such notable initiative being the odd-even formula in Delhi which was a markable step towards controlling pollution by limiting the number of vehicles on road and any offenders who broke this rule were find by the local police as a result of which pollution level City decline significantly and apart from this government also banned burning of left over crops in state such as Haryana and Punjab and if people were caught practicing burning crops, strict action was taken against them.
However, there are other factors which contribute to climate change such as emission of gases from factories and emission during generation of electricity which government of country cannot impose punishment for as they are necessary for economic development of country. A lot of coal is burnt and gases are released during the production of electricity and if government bans production of electricity entire country or city may stop functioning or if factories are shut down it may hault the supply of essential. Goods we need in our day to day life. Despite, all of this government has still made efforts they can to limit the intake of gases to protect the environment and stop climate change.
In Conclusion, even though government imposed strict restrictions and punishment to overcome climate change but if people do not obey the rules all the efforts will be worthless.
