A teacher is one of the most important persons in everyone’s life.We meet many teachers in our lives in many fields of knowledge like education,sports etc.Some teachers have tremendous knowledge,but they don’t have good understanding with their students and some conversely have good understanding with their students,but lack in knowledge.I would prefer to agree with the given statement as it is important to have understanding between student and teacher than knowledge level of the teacher.

All students are not the same and some of them need support especially from their teachers as they lack in some intellectual skills.For example, suppose a student in class fails repeatedly in tests,even if he is the brightest student in the class and answers all questions asked in the class.This student might be studying well for classroom efforts,but must be using a wrong strategy for final tests.Such problems need to be solved by his teacher and the student will not describe his problem with teacher until they have good understanding in between.Therefore,a good understanding can definitely solve such problems.

In the same manner, a teacher may not have the best knowledge of his subject but even the expert teacher will fail to teach a student if he can’t interpret his point well to the student.For instance,every teacher has a different style of teaching and not all students can understand their lecture.So the teacher needs to understand what kind of style of teaching is compatible with most students and should adapt to that style. Only such understanding teacher can be called a good teacher.

Additionally, a successful student always have a guide who guides him to success.In case of a student,his best guide can be his teacher alone.It can be explained by example of high school student who’s studying in his final year.This student might not know the best college or course of study he’s going to take in college and he need to be guided by someone for that.Such guidance can only be given by a teacher who has good understanding with him and knows a lot about this student.If the teacher assist him to choose the best college, then this students future will be bright.Hence, a teacher with good understanding also acts as a guide for a student.

Conclusively, it is true that a teacher must have good knowledge of his field and without it he or she may not become the best teacher. But a good relationship between student and teacher is far more important as a teacher also acts as a guide and problem solver in a students life.
