The reading discusses about the benefits of the genetically modified trees and provides three reasons of support. While, the lecture argues that those trees are not better than nature trees and refutes each of the author's reason.
First, the article claims that the genetically modified trees are hardier than the nature trees. The professor opposes this point by explaining that the genetically modified trees are more sensitive to the sudden changes of climate. He argues although some nature trees can be ruined by the climate changes, finally there are some trees which are resistant and can grow well. He also explains that it is more likely to disappear whole of the genetically modified trees just by a changes like new pest and cold weather.
Second, the reading describes that the genetically modified trees are more economic for the farmers. The professor rejects this point by talking about the hidden costs. He mentions that the farmer cannot grow the plants by their seeds and they must purchase the modified trees of the productive companies all the time which is more costly.
Third, the article explains that the genetically trees can be replaced by the trees, those cut down for its wood in the forests. The professor refutes this point by talking that the genetically modified trees can grow aggressively between the nature ones and they can cause more damage to the nature trees by crowding and competing over the sun light, water.
