M: Suzy, what’s going on? Why are you in such a hurry?
W: [pressured for time] Oh, hey Tom. I’m sorry I don’t have much time to talk; I’m in a big rush.
M: Do you need any help?
W: You don’t have any home-cooked food with you right now, do you?
M: What are you talking about?
W: I have a big problem. Our club bake sale is going to start in an hour and I was supposed to bring something that I cooked from home. I was planning to cook some brownies right before the sale started, but I had to stay late in my biology class because our assignment took a lot longer than I thought. I’m on my way home now and I don’t know what to do.
M: Relax, why don’t you just go to the store and buy some brownies? I’m sure everyone will understand why you were late and be happy you still brought something.
W: I don’t think so; everyone is taking something that they baked from home. I know they’ll all be disappointed if I just took something I bought.
M: Just go home and cook your brownies then. You’ll be late, but at least you’ll have kept your promise.
W: I thought about that, but the sale is only two hours long. By the time I get there, it’ll be almost over and I don’t know how many people will still be there.
M: I’m sure you’ll still have people walking around and they’ll probably like it that there’s something fresh to buy at the end of the sale when everything is usually old and cold.
W: That’s true.
