Arrangements have been made to ensure that currently enrolled majors will receive their degrees as planned, but no new major applications have been approved for the affected departments during this past academic year. A statement by the dean of the College of Liberal Arts expressed confidence that the money thus saved would be put to good use elsewhere in the university.
