The lecturer states that the animals and plants living in the deepest part of the ocean which is cold and dark and food is scarce need to adapt to the environment to survive. Then, she provides two examples to illustrate this. First, she states that specific species of eels have body features like enormous mouth and large stomach that allows them to eat larger preys than themselves. Due to a lot of nutrition and food that larger preys provide for the animal, it will take a while to need for food again. Secondly, angler fish gets adapted to the darkness of the ocean floor by producing light near its mouth. It uses the glowing part of its body to attract animals very close to its mouth and catches the food.
