The diagrams below show the development of the horse
The picture illustrates how horse develops over 40 million years.
In general, the evalution consists of four stages, begining with Eohippus and ending with te modern horse. It is clear that, horse becomes larger and has a significant change in foot structure.
40 million years ago, the first breed of horse was called Eohippus having a small apperance and short tail. Its foot had 4 digits which is quite small. After 10 million years, this horse became larger, known as Mesohippus, with development in tail and forelock. The structure of its foot reduced in number of digits, by 1 digit.
In the next 15 years, the size of Merrychippus remained unchange compared to the previous one while the forelock continue grew. The foot still had 3 digits but bigger, especially the middle digit was extremely larger and longer than the others. At the final stage of the evolution, there is modern horse. It is bigger than its predecessors, with a dense forelock and single-foot structure - a very large digit.
