TPO-31

The reading and the lecture are both about a skeleton fossil of a dinosaur named Sinosauroteyx. The author of the reading believes that the pattern of fine line around the skeleton bone fossil is not a feather of the dinosaur. He provides three reasons to support his argument. This point is challenged by the lecture. He believes that the fine line represents the feathers.
First of all, the author of the reading states that the skin of the dinosaur decomposed to fiber. It represented the fine line in the fossils. Therefore it is not a feather. The lecture casts doubt on this argument. He suggests that if the fine line would have been a decomposition of the skin then it should be observed in the fossils of the other animals remains too. But, It is a well-preserved line suggests feathers.
Second, the author states that the scientist cannot tell with clarity what part of the dinosaur's anatomy the structures were. He believes it is likely to be remains of frills. The lecture refutes this idea. He suggests that the Feathers contain beta-keratin protein. The scientist has proved that same protein is present in the fine line of the fossils. Therefore, it proves the feathers.

Third, the author mentions that the fine line is the part of the backbone and tail of the dinosaur's remain. He means to say that it is useless for the flight and would have used in thermoregulation. However, the lecture, on the other hand, suggests that the fine line were colorful. It was of bright orange and white color which strongly suggests it the remains of feathers.
