A friend, who lives in another country, has invited to you come and stay with him/her on your next holiday. You are too busy to accept the invitation. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
– thank him/her for the invitation
– explain why you cannot come
– give him/her your other news
Dear Rachel,
Hope you’re doing well. Thank you so much for the invite to Australia for my upcoming holidays. I know you’ve applied for my visa and I can’t thank you enough for your kind gesture. But I regret I can’t accept your invite at the moment.
Unfortunately, I need to tell you that my organization is having a structural change due to which all the sanctioned leaves has been cancelled. In this circumstances, I don’t think it will be right on my part to re-apply for leaves. It’s disheartening but the situation is not in my hand. I hope you understand.
Also, I want to share a good news. Soon, I will be promoted to a senior manager designation within the Human Resource department. Hence, I will be organizing a party in Canada and you have to block your dates for the party. Once you are here, we will also plan road trips to the other provinces. I’m really excited to meet you.
Looking forward to see you soon.
Best wishes,
Jessica
