The article states that there are three theories explain what the agnostids ate and how it behaves which is the marine animals that became extinct before 450 billion years and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor states that all the three theories mentioned in the r4eading are weak, and he refutes each of the reading reasons.
First, the reading claims that the agnostics are the free-swimming predators who hunted small animals. The lecture counters this point by saying that if the agnostids consider a predator, they should have large well-developed eyes. In fact, the agnostics have a small eye. Therefore, if they are predators should have another sensory organ, but there is no evidence that the agnostids have other organs.
Second, the reading asserts that the agnostics may have dwelled on the sea floor. The professor contradicts this idea by telling that the sea floor creatures have the ability to move slowly and stay in the localized geographical areas. However, the agnostics living in the multiple geographic areas and move fast. So the agnostids are unusual to be a sea floor dwellers.
Third, the reading points out that the third theory is the agnostics could be parasites. However, the professor demonstrates that the parasites are just a small population and limited in number. In fact, the agnostids are large population. Therefore, agnostids could not be parasites.
