The pie charts show the average consumption of food in the world in 2008 compared with two countries: China and India.
Write a report to a university lecturer describing the data.
A glance at the pie charts given reveals the China and India’s food consumption in terms of four categories in year 2008 when compared with the World’s. All in all, a striking similarity with slight difference can be noticed on the distribution of the proportion of the four categories in the mentioned countries.
It is obvious that processed food was the major energy intake in the world, with slightly over 40% of the people eating it worldwide in 2008. China and India saw a similar trend in which somewhere between 30% and 40% of their inhabitants consumed it in the same period. Also, evident is the fact that the least significant food selected by the people over the world was nuts and seed, which constituted a negligible 4% of food intake internationally. This type of food, though was also not prevalent in China and India, was with much higher proportion of consumption when compared to the world. Twofold and threefold higher intake rate could be witnessed in China and India respectively than in the world.
It is also interesting that Vegetable and Fruits and Animal Food consumed were with opposite trend in China and India. While more Chinese (32%) took Vegetable and Fruits as their diet than Indian (23%), people in India than in China consumed 12% more Animal Food.
