The lecturer and author are both talking about the benefit by the professors appearance on television and the speaker refutes the main point made in the reading passage. The following three points of view between two parties are presented as followed.
First of all, the lady argues that the professor does not get any advantages by television appearance which questions the author's point of view that they enhance their importance as scholars. According to the teacher, she states that TV program prefer to have guest who is not serous about issue. Thus, the professors on TV are tended to be entertainer so there are not invited to important conferences.
Second, the speaker points that the professors spend too much time to prepare for TV program instead of researching or meeting with students at campus. They take time to travel, make a presentation and even for their nice look. In the reading passage, the author claims that university would have advantages from their teacher's appearance such as highly regard from public and increasing potential applicants. However, the universities would not get these benefits as they expect.
Lastly, the lecturer says that public viewers expect that they will have widely knowledge of studies but the tv program only cares about their academic title thus the public obtain only brief of subjects. She also tells that the information from the professors on television is as same as we get from the reporter did little homework beforehand.
Therefore, the main points made by the speaker in the lecture cast doubt on the main points made in the reading passage.
