The article states that working fewer days (4 days or less than 5 days a week) will be more beneficial to the economy of company providing 3 reasons however the lecturer contradicts all the reasons of the author.
At the beginning, the author mentions that working fewer days will increase the profits of the company and improve the rest and alert of the employees. Also it will reduces the errors in the work , on the other hand the professor refutes that by saying that spending more money in training new employees and medical benefits, more employees means more office spaces, more computers which cuts into the company’s economy or costs.
Secondly, the author states that working fewer days will decreases the unemployment but the professor says that the company will expect that who works 4 days will have the same ability of who works 5 days but unfortunately the job will be unpleasant and the employees will work over time to make up the difference.
At last but not the least, the author addresses that working fewer days will increases the time spending with family and activities like exercise but the professor mentions that because of working fewer days will increase the risk of loose jobs and decreases the chances of advancement in career and the company will prefer the workers who work 5 days than 4 days to be hired in management positions.
