The reading and lecture are both about teamwork which is a way of working together with each other. The author of the reading believes that working as a team is more beneficial. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made by the author. He thinks that teamwork can make argument and eventually lead to bad teamwork.
First of all, the author believes that working in groups is always better. It is mentioned that working in groups give you more knowledge, because there are more people. The point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that working in groups is not always the best. If whatever you are trying to achieve, doesn't work, then the blame goes to the rest of the teammates. Furthermore, he argues that working in teams can sometimes be good, but most of the time people get into arguments and fight over something.
Secondly, the author contends that it is rewarding to work in teams. Other members can appreciate what you have done and you would get lots of pride. The article notes that,” Taking part in a group process can be very rewarding for the team.” The lecturer rebuts this argument. He says that working in teams is not always rewarding, people may have problems with each other. She elaborates this by mentioning that not everyone agrees with everyone, and everyone argues with each other.
Finally the author points out that Teams have a greater chance of getting a better score because the team has a wider skills and knowledge. The lecture posits about it that the members could slow slow down the progress of the project that can lead to unsuccessful outcome.
