A problem has been risen in recent years- the delicing population of frogs. The reading passage provides three possible solutions to recover the population, while the lecturer points out the disadvantages of these ideas.
First, the article suggests to prohibit the farmers from using harmful pesticides due to fact that the declining frog population is caused by pesticides. Though inhibiting using pesticides can prevent the frogs' nervous system to be harmed by pesticides, the lecturer thinks it is not practicle to execute this policy. The reason is the economical lose from the farmers whose farms are close to the habitats of frogs. The lower yield caused by not using pesticides make the farmers unable to compete with their competitors.
Second, the reading passage pointed out that the fungus may paly a role to harm the population of frogs. Fungus will thicken the skin of frogs and cause them die of dehydration. Therefore, the passage suggests to carry ou the antifungal medication. However, the lectuer disagrees with the idea. In her opinion, it is a complicated way to prevent all the forgs from infected by the fungus. The reason is that they have to treat the frogs individually, and all the offsprings will need to be treated again. The solution cannot be executed forever since the expensive cost.
Third, the article provides a solution due to the fact that the forgs' habitats were harmed by humanbeings. It suggests to protect the area of water and the wetland habitats since the forgs need to lay their eggs in water. Although the solution seems good, the lecturer pointed out that the reason of the habitats got harmed is global warming. Therfore, protecting the water area may not contribute to maintain the population of frogs.
As a result, the lecturer disagrees with the three solutions provided in the reading passage. The solutions are not practical to the lecturer, and the better solution to maintain the population of frogs need to be study.
