The reading and the lecture are both about diminishing workdays for employees. Whereas the author of the reading states that, four-day work will increase company's profit, the lecture suggest that working four days a week can't be beneficial for financial income.
First of all, according to the reading, reducing workday can save more money because of the employees who is rested and do their job more efficiently. Moreover, author suggests that hiring new workers won't make additional payment. However, the lecturer disputes this point. He says more employees require more money. Because company need to buy a new computer and prepare office.
Secondly, the reading states that working few days can raise more working place. So that, it can diminish the unemployment. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this argument. He argues that employer would not add accessible job due to the fact that, they hope that, workers will choose to work five-day week.
Finally, the reading claims that, four-day work is good way to cultivate to mind or skill development. On the other hand, the lecturer believe that employees will lose their job or can't promote because employer will support five-day week worker.
In conclusion, although the reading and the lecture are both about new system of working days, the three main points made in the reading are effectively challenged by the lecture.
