A glance at provided diagrams demonstrates the upsurge in the number of people in Australia. All data is concerning 2001.
It is apparent from the diagram that there was very slight increase in population. The role of natural increase was nearly the same as immigrants in this upsurge.
When only contributions of immigrants are concentrated, the largest group of immigrants was from South and East Europe (34 %). This was followed by Asian and North and West European immigrants accounting for 23 % and 21 % of total immigrants respectively. There were also immigrants from America and New Zealand. North African and Middle Eastern immigrants made merely 5 % which is the least amount.
All in all, the upsurge in Australia’s population was a little. Natural increase and immigrants, which were mainly from Southern and Eastern Europe, contributed to this upsurge equally.
