tpo 4 Endotherms are animals such as modern birds and mammals that keep their body temperatures constant. For instance, humans are endotherms and maintain an internal temperature of 37°C, no matter whether the environment is warm or cold.
The lecturer and passage are both about the term of whether dinosaurs were endotherms or not. The passage supports the idea of the possibility of endotherms in dinosaurs by giving some pieces of evidence while the lecturer contradicts all of the passage’s views.
First of all, The author of the passage put forward the idea that the discovered dinosaur fossils in polar region indicated that the capability of preserving the temperate of dinosaurs in cold weather which matched the term of endotherms while the lecturer opposed this one by stating that there are plentiful fossils nowadays not only in the polar region. Moreover, normally when it was cold weather, dinosaurs would either migrate to the warmer place or hibernate as many modern reptiles.
Secondly, With the point which given by the author about the leg position that contributes the endotherms like dinosaurs’ legs which located beneath their body were likely to maintain the energy for running activity. But The lecturer’s point of view went against the passage by bringing another explanation about the location of legs that supported their weight of dinosaur’s body and had more advantages.
Finally , The author of the passage declared that bone structure which is Haversian canal had the connection with endotherms because it illustrated the rapid growth of dinosaur which was the indication of endotherms while the lecturer challenged this idea by claiming that dinosaur had the growth rings which showed the period of the growth of dinosaur and it made their temperature unstable. As a result, It wasn’t the characteristic of Endotherms.
