This diagrams report about the number of fishers in the world during three decades, start from 1970 to 2000, and the world’s top ten exporters of fish in 2000. It can be seen that Asia was consistent to maintain achievement in the first rank among total of fishermen and top ten in export activity.
According to the chart and table, Asia, Europe, and South America had different development of fishers. In 1970, total of Asia’s fishers reached 9 million and in Europe got around 0.6 million people, but in South America the number of fishers was higher than Europe by 1.2 million.
Ten years later, fishermen in Asia increased 4 million and the total of them became 13 million. South America still showed the same position like in 1970, but Europe decreased from 0.6 million to 0.3 million. It indicated that fishers population did not always grow every year.
In 2000, the number of fishers in Asia reached the highest rank with 24 million people and Europe inclined again by 0.6 million. During 30 years, South America always survived in the same rank with 1.2 million.
Based on data in the chart, Thailand became number one in World’s Top Ten Exporters of fish in 2000, and South Korea got the lowest rank. Then, Indonesia only reached the ninth position.
In summary, only Asia that had good performance because the number of fishers in that continent always rose sharply. South America showed no change during three decades and the percentage in Europe from 1970 to 2000 had fluctuating result.
