The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.
The chart illustrates the proportion of males and females in separate age groups took part in regular physical exercises in Australia in the year 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the number of women doing physical activities was far higher than men. Particularly, middle-aged women from 45 to 54 years old exercised a lot; while the figure for men in the 35-44 age group was the least popular among categories surveyed. Units are measured in percentages.
The proportion of females in the 15-24 age group who worked out stood at 47.7%; whereas the figure for men in that group was 5.1% higher. Then, the number of physically active females increased gradually in the three following age groups before falling to just 47.1% in the last age group (65 and over).
Meanwhile, the proportion of men doing physical activities experienced a sharp drop to 42.2% and 39.5% in the 25-34 age group and 35-44 age group respectively. The figure then rose gradually to just 0.4% higher than that for women who worked out in the 65 and over age category.
