In 1918, about 78% of the families lived in rented houses in England and Wales, while in 2001, only 32% of the families lived in rented houses before a slight increase to 36% in 2011. The percentage of owned houses had opposite trends. In 1918, it started at 22% and was 68% in 2001. In 21, it saw a little dicline to 64%.
Approximately 78% of families lived in rented accommodation in 1918, this was the highest number of house renting. In 2010, the highest proportion of people living in their own houses was 64% in England and Wales.
