The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050.
The pie charts illustrate the proportion of ages of the population in two countries namely Yemen and Italy during a period of 50 years between 2000 and 2050.
Overall, it is clear that the figures in both two countries are predicted to change significantly. In particular, the percentage of (15 – 59)year-old citizens in Yemen is going to increase sharply while that of Italy is prone to a reduction.
In 2000, there were nearly half of citizens were belonged to the 0 – 14 year old group, followed by 46.3% of people from 15 to 59 years old; however, the former is expected to drop to about 37% in 2050 in Yemen while the latter is predicted to experience an increase of 11%. The number of citizens who are over 60 years old has contributed a small proportion of under 5% over the period surveyed.
In terms of Italy, the percentage of people under 15 years old is projected to drop slightly from 14.3% to 11.5% in 2050. Meanwhile, the figure for (15 – 59) year old group is going to witness a fall of 15.4% over 50 years. Finally, the proportion for the elderly stood at 24.1% in 2000 and is predicted to go up significantly to 42.3% in the end.
