TPO-49 - Integrated Writing Task
The lecture and the reading both discuss sending a human to Mars. While the reading states this project needs to solve several problems, the lecture refutes each of the author's reason.
First of all, the reading claims a round-trip to Mars would take at least two years, therefore they need a large amount of water, food, and oxygen which need to the unlimited vehicle to bring these to Mars. Moreover, the lecture argues that scientist can use the hydroponic technology that can grow plants on the water instead of the soil. On the other hand, they can recycle the polluted water to produce fresh water. Furthermore, the professor says the plants can absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
In addition, the reading makes the arguments that the zero-gravity environment plays a negative effect on the human body. The lecture counters the point by stating that there are a lot of astronauts that spent much time on Mars with the zero-gravity environment without a problem, albeit they did some regular exercises. According to the professor, they use a kind of calcium that increases the bones density of the human body.
Ultimately, the reading passage argues that the level of space radiation emitted by the Sun is dangerous for the human. The lecture refutes this claim by pointing out the space radiation will not dangerous for the group because the Sun occasionally emitted the space radiation. Moreover, the professor says to avoid this dangerous level of space radiation group need to the special instrument to measure the level of the space radiation, also they can use the small shelter.
